How I realized the importance of water?

Just when I was meandering in and out of my house, my mom called out to me and told me there was something wrong with the water pumping motor. I reached out to her as soon as I heard her voice. The thought of an empty tank was constantly bugging her. She added that without water it would not be possible for her and us to do the daily chores. I ran towards my room, which took me a while, to call my electrician. The person who I can rely on with my eyes shut. At times, he is lackadaisical and doesn't respond well. As usual, he told me that he was busy and would not be able to come. I told him that it was urgent and there's nothing we could do without his help. That's when I realized how important an electrician is. I sound like a square peg in a round hole in such situations. Jokes apart, I insisted him to visit us the following day and the call ended on an assuring note from his side. Meanwhile, we had the whole day ahead of us and thoughts of water running dry. I will expl

How To Deal With Stress?

Siddharth: Hey! How are you doing?

Manish: Please don't ask. I don't really feel well.

Siddharth: You can share it with me. I may have a solution up my sleeve.

Manish: Okay.

Manish: I have been on a job hunt for the past couple of months. I went to four different companies and each one of them gave me a writing assignment. Remember when I was discussing how to cope with examination stress with you? That's one of my assignments. I don't think that I left any stone unturned and I think I gave my best.
But I haven't received even a single reply from any one of them so far. This thought is constantly bugging me into thinking that I am worthless and not letting me sleep.

Siddharth: At least don't call yourself worthless.

Manish: Please. Your sympathy is not gonna help me. Step into my boots and you will know what I am going through.

Siddharth: If you keep giving excuses, things are not gonna get better. I want you to pull yourself together and get back to me when you are in fine fettle.

Besides, I want you to take a look at the below-mentioned points. These will surely help you do away with your stress-related issues.

We All Love Sleeping So Let's Shut-Eye

Lots of studies show that if you don't get proper sleep or deprive yourself of sleep, your life will turn upside down. You will not get the desired results and you will start blaming yourself while completely neglecting the fact that a good night's sleep is important for your body to function properly. Your brain is neither inexhaustible nor runs on electricity. It needs some rest too. So if you want to keep the feeling of tautness at bay, you need to get an adequate amount of sleep every day.

P.S. It is recommended for an adult to sleep 6-8 hours a day.
P.P.S. The sleep cycle for different age groups is different. An infant needs 12-16 hours of sound sleep every day.

We Inherited The Habit of Drinking Tea From Britishers. So Let's Lighten Our Plights By Savoring Green Tea.

You may not know but Green Tea is a proven stress buster. It helps in improving mental alertness, treating your digestive issues, and lowering cholesterol levels in the blood. It is also claimed that if you drink green tea in the morning, it will help you cut some extra fat from your body. If it is so beneficial, it must have something that helps militate against so many factors. Yes, it has. It's called Caffeine. Now, you would think in your mind that caffeine is not good. Everything taken in an adequate amount leads to desired results. Excess to anything can be bad. If you drink excess water, it may cause water poisoning and eventually, lead to a medical condition known as Hyponatremia. I am not going to explain it. So why not drink green tea and stop counting the side effects of Caffeine.

P.S. It worked for me. And you will never know the benefits of Green Tea if you don't give it a shot.

Take Naps At Regular Intervals, Whenever And Wherever Possible

Don't feel like working anymore? Feeling somnolent? Why not take a nap of 10-20 minutes? A nap is nothing but shutting-eye for a short interval of time. Whenever I am tired of working, I prefer a short nap. It gives instant relaxation, reduces fatigue, and improves mood. So the next time you feel overburdened, take forty winks.

Drink Plenty Of
H2O

71 percent of the earth's surface is covered with water. 60% of the human body is water. Water is a paramount source of energy for both this planet and our bodies. Our cells contain water and all the necessary nutrients are transported with the help of water in our body. Dehydration leads to higher concentrations of cortisol - the stress hormone - making it difficult to perform daily chores. Water helps in maintaining the cortisol levels in the body and makes you feel stress-free. What are you waiting for? Go and grab a glass of water for me. I am feeling a bit stressed.

P.S. Cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands but its rate of production is regulated by the pituitary gland.

Take A Warm Bath

Bathing/Laving calms your mind. It helps in reducing stress hormones and in maintaining serotonin levels. Lower serotonin levels lead to disorders, such as anxiety or depression.

Don't Bite More Than You Can Chew

I will do this. I will do that. I will do that too. Oh my God! There are a sundry of things to be done. Will I be able to do everything today! I have a lot on my plate and I don't know where to start. Are any of these thoughts vexing you or contributing to your stress? Then stop biting more than you can chew. You can't change the whole world in a day. Go slow. Take small steps. To exemplify, if you try to swallow everything on your plate at once, it can cause jaw injury and stress your teeth and gums. Similarly, if there is a staircase in front of you and the staircase has thirty steps, you can't take thirty steps at once. You can take at least one or almost two steps at a time. Don't overpressurize yourself by considering everything. Pick one thing at a time and get it done. After you are done with the first thing, move on to the second. And so on.

P.S. You should chew your food 32 times before swallowing.

Prepare A Schedule and Stick To It

The problem discussed in the previous point can be avoided by preparing a to-do list and assigning a particular time to each of the tasks on that list. It will keep the problem of stress at bay.

P.S. Don't forget to take breaks in between.

Do Not Let Negative Thoughts Govern Your Mind

I will not succeed. I don't think I will be able to finish this task on time. I haven't prepared for my exam. I don't think it will go good. It's too much, I can't handle it. Are these thoughts governing your mind and making you feel tense? Well, it's time you changed your thinking. Pick one negative thought at a time and start replacing it with a positive thought. Let me teach you how.

Negative thought - I can't do it.
Positive thought - I can do it.

Negative thought - I can't handle it.
Positive thought - I can handle it.

Do Something That Takes Your Mind Off Your Tensions

There's this friend of mine, Andrew Solomon, whose favorite pastime is to play guitar. Whenever he is brassed off or feels down in the mouth, he picks up his guitar and starts playing his favorite piece of music. When I feel stressed, I go on a long drive. Sometimes I listen to music too.

P.S. Some of my favorite singers are Jason Mraz, James Bay, Dean Lewis, Ed Sheeran, and Jack Johnson.

Take A Stroll With Your Friend

I have decided to part ways with her. I am on the horns of a dilemma and wondering what to do. I can't talk about this through my parents. Are thoughts like this constantly bugging you? Trust me, you need a friend. There are certain things that you can't discuss with your parents and that is when friends come into the picture. Sometimes letting out your thoughts is the best possible way to attain a stress-free state of mind.

P.S. Not everybody is loyal. Choose wisely.

Do You Go For Jogging? No. Start now.

Jogging can have the same effect on your body as Bathing does. Jogging helps in regulating the stress hormones in your body and aids in boosting the production of endorphins and serotonin, chemicals responsible for keeping the mood intact.
I am planning to go jogging tomorrow and you should too.

Eat Comfort Food

Wondering how food can be associated with comfort? Are you imagining a piece of pizza slice sitting on the couch? If Yes, you are certainly wrong. Comfort food is something that makes us feel nostalgic. In simple words, something that reminds us of our childhood. I would tell my mom to make Maggi when I felt stressed. I still eat Maggi but I no longer tell my Mom to make it.

Watch Your Favorite Movie Or TV Show

Rachel: “I’m not someone who goes after a guy five minutes after he’s divorced.”
Monica: “No, you go after them five minutes before they get married.”

“Well, you all know that I am a pacifist which means I am not interested in war — in any way. But when the revolution comes, I will have to destroy you all; not you, Joey.”

Wondering who Rachel, Monica, and Joey are? They are some of the characters from one of my favorite TV shows, Friends. These dialogues really make me crack up when I am crestfallen.
