What do you conceive of when you first hear the term solitude? A person sitting alone for no reason or a state in which one cuts all his ties from his surroundings. Either he stops going to places or he stops meeting people. A state where there is complete seclusion from the outside elements of the world. And why do some people ostracize themselves from society and walk the path of solitude? To understand it you need to be in my shoes. I practice this every now and then. Why do I prefer to be in a state where there is no one around? I consider it as an important part of self-analysis where a person stops doing all other stressful activities concerning the brain and solely thinks about himself. I find it paramount as it serves the process of examining one’s own mental health and it aids in understanding one’s own thoughts or consciences in a better way. In simple words, it serves as a means of introspection.
Be it finding hidden talents or be it exploring oneself to the best extent possible or be it stabilizing one’s mental health or be it gaining control over one’s emotions - Introspection plays an important role in identifying oneself and one’s hidden potential. Sometimes I go into a state of solitude just to freshen up my mind - to remove the feeling of disillusionment or discontentedness or disenchantment and to restore optimism. People are full of sadistic thoughts and full of hatred just because they don’t give themselves some time to introspect which in turn has a negative toll on their mental health. They are not able to perform as they want themselves to, which leads to mental disorders like depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD), and other disorders.
We all meet new people at various stages of our life, right? Some turn out to be good and some turn out to be bad. It’s the latter ones that hurt our feelings and leave us in a lamentable or deplorable shape. One of the reasons for practicing or walking the path of solitude is our past experiences. If we don’t give ourselves a break, we will continue digging up old graves. Therefore, it is very important to introspect and let go of all the chips on one’s shoulder or the feelings of bitterness that keeps discombobulating us. When we introspect we give vent to our feelings. We think of things that we really want and cancel the ones that we don't want. The notion of short-term solitude helps you to dot your I's and cross your T's before deciding on a career for yourself. Solitude is also important to let go of all the bad decisions you have made and the bad people you have come across in your life. To be honest it’s the notion of short-term solitude that has helped me overcome all the hardships in my life.
